Architecture and engineering practiced as separate disciplines produces worse outcomes for clients and worse buildings for the world. URU brings both disciplines under one contract, one team, one point of accountability.
Architecture and Engineering.
Not one or the other: both, from the same team.
Most clients are handed between an architect and an engineer. URU eliminates that gap. Ten disciplines, one contract, zero handover failures.
01
Spatial design that resolves programme, place and purpose within the specific conditions of a site, climate and culture.

Environments shaped by material, light and human experience, resolved alongside architecture from the earliest stage.
Learn more →03
Ground-level interventions that bind building to ecology. In Kerala's climate, landscape is thermal, hydrological and cultural infrastructure.
Learn more →04
Load paths and structural logic engineered for longevity, by a team that works alongside architects from concept stage.
Learn more →05
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems that perform silently, designed to be maintainable, not merely code-compliant.
Learn more →06
Programme, cost and coordination held to account by one team managing both design and construction phases.
Learn more →07
Environmental performance integrated from concept to operation, not retrofitted at the end of design development.
Learn more →08
Digital models and renderings that communicate design intent with precision. BIM delivered to a standard contractors can build from.
Learn more →09
Movement planning at building, district and city scale, responding to client need across mixed-use and masterplan work.
Learn more →10
Site assessment, impact analysis and ecological stewardship for projects navigating complex regulatory conditions.
Learn more →The coordination failures that arise when disciplines are separated, and what changes when they are not.
8 min read SustainabilityThe vernacular courtyard is not a stylistic reference. It is a climatic instrument, and its principles survive any architectural language.
6 min read ProcessWhen structure, systems and space are resolved by the same team from concept stage, the waste that plagues conventional delivery disappears.
5 min read"The built environment is not neutral. Design and engineering are forms of intervention in how people live, work, move and relate to each other."
URU was founded on a single conviction: that architecture and engineering practiced as separate disciplines produces worse outcomes for clients and worse buildings for the world. A decade of projects, published internationally and recognised by critics and peers across South Asia and the Middle East, has only deepened that belief. In 2025 the practice formalised its Gulf presence by establishing URU Design Services LLC in Dubai. The work continues to be built on disciplinary depth, institutional knowledge and an unwavering standard of integrated delivery.

Sustainability at URU is not a service line. It is the evaluative lens through which every design decision is made, from passive cooling strategy in a Kerala courtyard to whole-life costing in a GCC commercial brief.
Our sustainability commitmentBuildings that restore rather than deplete. Net-positive outcomes for biodiversity, water cycle and embodied carbon.
Design that serves communities equitably. Daylight, ventilation and material durability are baseline obligations, not premiums.
Whole-life costing and adaptive reuse potential as the true measure of value. A building that lasts 100 years is more sustainable than one that replaces itself every 25.
Courtyard ventilation, laterite thermal mass, deep overhangs and cross-ventilation: the passive logic native to this landscape.
URU is a practice run on competence, creativity and self-integrity, not surveillance. We are building for the long run and we want people who think that way.
